If your injury extends farther than teeth, you should contact your local emergency room for the quickest and most effective assistance.

Experiencing a Dental Emergency?

A knocked out tooth or bitten tongue can cause panic in any parent, but quick thinking and staying calm are the best ways to approach such common dental emergencies and prevent additional unnecessary damage and costly dental restoration. This includes taking measures such as application of cold compresses to reduce swelling, and of course, contacting our office as soon as possible.

Toothache

Visit our dental office if you're experiencing uncomfortable aching or pain in your tooth. Rinse out your mouth with water and check for plaque and debris around the aching tooth with floss. Check with our dental team before taking any medication.

Broken, Chipped or Cracked Tooth

Apply a cold compress to your face to reduce swelling. Rinse your mouth with warm water as well. If you have an external piece of your tooth, wrap it carefully in a wet towel and bring it to our dental office to determine is re-attachment is the right solution.

Loose Crown or Implant

Please call our office to have your loose crown or implant re-attached as soon as possible. If the the crown or implant has fallen out, you can attempt to hold it in place temporarily. Toothpaste or dental wax may be used as a temporary adhesive prior to arriving at our office.

Loose or Knocked-Out Tooth

Similar to a crown or implant, you can attempt to hold the tooth back in its natural socket prior to meeting with our dentist. Keep the tooth attached by holding it with a clean washcloth is needed. Rinse the root of the tooth first if dirty. Hold the tooth under your tongue and visit our dentist immediately if you cannot reinsert the tooth yourself.
